A member asked:

I am 62 & bleed from hemmroids. i have had 3 colonoscopies, last one in 2011 - all clean, no polyps. is that enough or do i need a yearly protoscope?

No need: Bleeding hemorrhoids do not necessarily relate to polyps and cancer. 3 clean colonoscopies are a great sign. You do not automatically need yearly follow up. Your gastroenterologist should direct you to the next time you need one, likely 5 years.

Rectal surgeons: go get the hemorrhoids taken care of if they're bleeding this regularly! I assume you've tried all topical treatments? Next colon cancer screening in 2021, assuming no significant family history and no past polyps
