A member asked:

My mom is 46 and had a cyst in her ovaries. the doctor took the cyst out and half if her ovary. could leaving the other half cause a problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: Ovarian cysts have a tendency to recur depending upon its' type. The remaining ovary also can still develop pathology such as future ovarian cancer just as any remnant of the ovary can. Your mother will need to be examined regularly by her OB-GYN MD if she experiences any recurring symptoms.
