Vitamin D: Hi. It's hard to say what constitutes "normal" vitamin D levels in humans in nature. We're all indoors all day. But the best estimates look like about the mid-40's for serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D, so levels of 18 and 23.5 are still down there. It would bring you up to at least the mid-30's (a very reasonable level, I feel) by just taking a few vit. D gel caps daily. It's cheap and easy to do.

Vit D: Sun exposure will raise your vitamin D level more than most foods will. I like to get my patient's Vit D level above 50. sometimes supplementation can help to get your level up as well. it is important to do this under the direction of a physician and to check your levels - you can get too much vitamin D as well.
