Don't brush 24 h: only gently rinse your mouth with warm salt water 3-4 X per day. After the 24 hours, start brushing your teeth, being particularly gentle near the surgical site to avoid disrupting any stitches or blood clot.

Brush all your teeth: I advise my patients to brush all of their teeth like they normally do, or are supposed to following surgery. They are advised to avoid brushing over the surgical sites the day of surgery, begin brushing lightly over the surgical sites the next day (after 24 hours) and then brush as usual on the second postoperative day (after 48 hours). They are also advised to avoid spitting the first 24 hrs.
