As much as needed. : Not to be tongue in cheek but the actual answer is as much as it takes. Officially the recommended amount is 25-30 grams a day. The ideal amount varies per person. The goal really is to take enough fiber to have at least two soft formed bowel movements a day. An important note of caution regarding fiber intake is that dietary fiber needs to be increased gradually to prevent GI discomfort.
