If no IV sedation: then this can be an acceptable way to help any anxiety you have with the procedure.

If No IV sedation: Usually the Interventionalist or health care provider will discuss with you beforehand what medications you have used in the past in order to relax or help you to decide. I agree that Valium or Ativan (lorazepam) could be used. If you do not feel comfortable or havent taken Valium before, it's appropriate to discuss this with the health team on the day of your procedure as they have you arrive very early.
