See Your Doctor: Rash is a general term and there are many causes. Diagnosis is difficult without visual inspection. If you were swimming in fresh water, swimmer's itch can be a cause. This is caused by a parasite that burrows into the skin causing an itchy bumpy rash. Other causes could be dry skin, allergies, & infection. Treatment is guided by the cause.
