Thrombosis: If a hemorrhoid gets firm and hard in the outside, it is usually a thrombosis hemorrhoid. This occurs when blood acutely fills a hemorrhoid. This conditon is usually self limiting and will resolve in 5 to 7 days as the blood gets resorbed by the body.
