Healthy eating !: This not a quick answer. A combination of healthy eating and routine exercise/activity is the key to prevention of Type 2 diabetes. Low glycemic carb. food are better in general for all in preventing long term insulin resistance. Obesity certainly is a risk factor. So although not a worry, in is always good to act and take care of young adults, and practice this lifestyle a s a family. Good luck
