Infection: I recommend you to go to your Ob/Gyn doctor to rule out a probable infective cause, like Bacterial Vaginosis that produce redness and itching in your vagina. Other possibilities include Herpes or other STD that can presents as burning or soreness in your genital area. in this case both (you and your sexual partner) should be examined and treated.

Labial redness: Vaginal itching can be due to a yeast infection, irritation from feminine products or from tight clothing, esp. synthetics. A tiny spot that burns may be something different. A spot with a yellow-white base that is very painful can be an active herpes lesion. Those need to be tested immediately to confirm diagnosis. It's safe to try an OTC yeast cream. If no change, a doctor can check.
