You may need CT scan: Sometimes ankle sprains are a little more that just that. There are inversion and eversion injuries that can cause what is called a Talar Dome Lesion. These usually cause pain in the joint. Under-treated ankle sprains however, can take longer to heal. A cat scan or MRI can give a nice picture of the ankle and supporting structures.
