I can't answer that: specific question. But, I do know that acupuncture can be quite beneficial for treatment of neuropathic pain.

Food for thought: I'm not sure about order of effectiveness, but the following are said to help:Accupuncture, alpha-lipoic acid, biofeedback, fish oil, amino acids like acetyl-L carnitine, and certain herbs like curcumin, geranium oil,and evening primrose oil. Make sure if you try any of the herbs, amino acids, or alpha-lipoic acid that you talk to your doc to make sure none of your current meds interact unfavorably.

Cause?: Have they figured why a young person such as yourself has a neuropathy? Most common cause is diabetes. In about 30 percent of the cases, they don't know why. There are treatable and possibly reversible causes. Some treatments are neuropathic meds, such as Keppra, Lyrica, (pregabalin) Cymbalta. Meds that are off label usage. For some other forms, there is IVIg, plasmapharesis and other modalities.

Meditation and more: I have recently been reading that high dose L- methyl folate (folic acid) can be useful for many things including neuropathic pain. Simply put, it is similar to a B vitamin. It is available online. Meditation and visualization exercises are also very powerful in controlling pain. You might also pursue acupuncture. Everyone responds differently, so there is no way to rank "in order of effectivity"

Non-medication Rx?: Medications such as SSRI class meds (Cymbalta), or anti seizure meds in special doses (gabapentin, lyrica), and pain meds are used. I assume since you said 'alternative', you mean NON-PILL Rx. I do not think there is study data giving order of effectiveness, as response is often related to individual genetics and metabolism. 1. CAPSACIAN, Lidocain patch, accupuncture, magnet therapy, nerve stim.

Several meds: If source is diabetes, controlling sugar must be at top of list. Given good control, neurontin often used for nerve pain with good results. It's stronger cousin, Lyrica, (pregabalin) may be needed if neurontin not helpful. Check feet often and try to get up and out as much as possible. Thinking well seems to help us be better!

Neuropathic Pain: Make sure you are getting 15 mg of L-Methylfolate, methylcobalamin (active B12 (2-4g), P5P (active B6) (50-75mg) daily. Don't smoke if you do! Those supplements will help increase circulation to the nerves which helps the pain by supporting & regrowing nerves.
