A member asked:

I was prescribed nortriptyline for neuropathic pain, how effective is the medication. ddd at t5-t6 with small bone spurs as well. ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Neuropathic pain: Nortriptyline can be used for neuropathic pain. In the US it is not FDA approved for neuropathic pain but it is prescribed off label and some studies have shown efficacy for treating nerve pain. If the pain does not resolve, then other medications and nonoperative treatments such as nerve blocks and physical therapy may relieve the pain.
