No difference: Hello. Hemorrhoids can be managed in a variety of ways. Internal and external just refer to location. A digital rectal exam is needed to feel internal hemorrhoids. Try using an OTC mediation if you have pain. If no change, see your regular doctor again for options. If you have blood in your stool, there may be something additional going on and you need evaluation ASAP.

Hemorrhoids vary: Hemorrhoids are varicose veins of our anus. They can be inside or outside. They can arise from lots of different things, but genetics plays a role. Some hemorrhoids gradually enlarge, and internal ones may bleed or "fall out" with the need to push them back in. Surgery may be justified then. External ones are just a nuisance for hygiene --> trapped stool causes itching. Talk with your dr.

Internal is not : Necessarily worse than external and the same cream can be used for both. The cream comes with an applicator that you can fill and treat the internal ones with. You don't say but at your age internal hemorrhoids would be unusual without childbirth
