Yes: Beta blockers,especially the older ones, such as atenolol (Tenormin) and metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol-XL) , can cause weight gain as a side effect. Discuss with your doctor the possibility of changing to a different beta blocker or a different class of medications that are suitable for your condition
