6 major ones: The anterior pituitary secretes 6 major hormones: 1. Adrenocorticotropic hormone (acth) which tells the adrenal gland to secrete glucocorticoids (a steroid hormone), 2. Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) for the thyroid, 3. Follice-stimulating hormone (fsh) , 4. Luteinizing hormone (lh) both directed at the ovaries/testes, 5. Growth hormone (gh), & 6. Prolactin (prl) for the ovaries & breasts.
