Find something else: Povidone iodine is an antiseptic. It is a complex of iodine. Oral use is designed for short courses, to treat infections of the oral cavity. It is not intended to be swallowed, since the iodine will be absorbed in larger quantities. Thus it is not advised for use in patients with certain thyroid disorders. It should also not be used regularly when pregnant - limit to a single treatment session

Sore throat: I am not aware of betadine rinse for the throat but I am certain that there would be minimal absorption of the substance if you rinsed and spit it out. As always though you need to ultimately check with and follow what your ob/gyn doctor says to do. Good luck and feel better.
