Rate of progression: M.S. has been described as occurring at stages or levels according to a scale referred to as EDSS. It ranges from 1 (no disability) to 10 (death). Rough population studies have suggested that the time it takes to change from one level to the next is anywhere from 3-5 years. Therefore, I would think that if your mom is relatively GOOD and ambulatory NOW that she will be fine for quite some time.
