Before trying: Before you try any over the counter remedies, you should definitely talk to a pediatrician. Also, setting a night time ritual that encourages sleep is important. TV's and electronics are stimulating so turning them off at least an hour before bedtime is essential for kids.

Not appropriate: 2 year olds are supposed to be lively and non stop. To help with bedtime start by reducing the stimulation he is exposed to. Around dinner time turn off the tv, and stereo, give him a nice quiet warm bath, read bedtime stories. Keep calm, quiet and soothing. Make bedtime predictable and expect the process to take at least an hour. Medication of any sort is not appropriate.
