Polycystic ovaries: Although "PCOS" can cause irregular periods, pregnancy can occur. Check with a serum pregnancy test (not urine) for accuracy, and consult your health care professional , as pregnancies can occur outside the womb, which require immediate attention Spontaneous miscarriages can also behave as you describe.
