Continued...should i wait a couple more days to see a doctor because the monistat says it could take up to a week for all symptoms to resolve?

Maybe: A lot of women misdiagnose a yeast infection. Yeast infections tend to cause more external than internal symptoms, are more likely to have a cottage cheese like discharge and aren't usually associated with an foul or fishy odor. At your age too, an STD check even if in a stable relationship is a good idea.

BE PATIENT: Yes, it can take up to a week to get total relief of symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection, but the discharge, burning, irritation should be lessening over the first few days of use of Monistat. Sometimes being on a birth control pill makes it more difficult to quickly and fully resolve the infection. Continued discharge or burning beyond 5 days warrants examination to ensure no urinary infection.
