Anxiety: Is often found in kids and teens with learning disabilities , as they have found school frustrating and not as rewarding as children without learning difficulties.

Disruptive behaviors: A child with a language-based learning disability is more likely to "act out" when not able to express himself verbally. When language ( the verbalization of ideas) "explodes" in a typical 17-20-month-old, "self-talk" also increases; e.g., "if I do this, mommy will be angry." preschoolers with language delays are more likely to exhibit oppositional behaviors like verbal or physical aggression.

Many: People with learning disabilities are over represented in incarcerated populations; in users of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs (particularly marijuana); in lower paying jobs; and lower in most socioeconomic markers. This is a civic tragedy that should not be occurring if more of these people were properly identified and helped when young.
