Similar,yet distinct: A major difference is the Hx of injury in RSD. Otherwise it can seem very similar. Tests can allow a skilled physician to tell and treatment options may differ. Here's some detailed info on them both.

Yes and no: Fibromyalgia is sometimes what is called a "lump diagnosis" in medicine. People with chronic pain of unknown cause are given the diagnosis because it is unknown what their actual cause of pain is. Some of these people surely have Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), another chronic pain syndrome. In that way, they are related, although for most people with fibromyalgia, the true cause is unknown.
