YES!!: Yes they can.... High cortisol levels can be due to many things, including stress, time of day of blood draw, and adrenal pathology (rare)

High Cortisol: Cortisol is the stress hormone. It increases with physical and/or mental stress. It is possible for someone of any size to have an elevated cortisol level, at least temporarily.
