Speak to surgeon: My suggestion is that your husband speaks to the surgeon who will be performing the procedure. Sometimes fear of the unknown can take control. Since we don't know what is being done or the reasons why it is being done with a local anesthetic, it's hard to give you any other advice. Maybe anti anxiety medication is needed.

Topical or local: If your husband has concerns about the procedure to be done, the type of anesthetic to be used, or the choices made by the surgeon, he should call the serge on and voice his concerns. There are many paths that can be taken to assure your husband's comfort. Communicate, it does wonders.

Ask Surgeon: Your surgeon can use sedation if you like. Make sure you ask by the day before surgery.
