Primary v. metastasi: It would depend if the tumor started in the bone (primary bone caner) or if you are referring to a cancer that spread from elsewhere to the bone (metastatic cancer). Primary bone cancers are often treated with a combination of surgery, radiation, chemotherapy. Metastatic cancer to the bone is usually treated with chemotherapy with radiation and surgery reserved for symptomatic disease.
