A member asked:

What is a typical dose of chlorpromazine for someone with agitation and anxiety?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Obsolete med: Chlorpromazine (brand name: thorazine (chlorpromazine)) is still available & is fda-approved for psychosis, mania, severe nausea/vomiting or hiccups, "restlessness and apprehension before surgery", & a couple of other rare conditions. Dosage for agitation is 25-50 mg orally. However, thorazine (chlorpromazine) is essentially obsolete: in almost every case there's another drug that works better, has fewer side-effects, or both.
