A member asked:

Can you tell me in what stage during ovary cancer should the patient's ovaries be taken out?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Early is better: The earliest stages of ovarian cancer should be handled by hysterectomy and bilat salpingo oophorectomy. Unless the lesion is a cyst with slight tumor changes, a more radical approach should be used with omentectomy since early metastasis occurs because of the presence of TGF B followed by release of a vascular permeability factor causing ascites.
