Sedation: While tooth extraction for braces is usually very straight forward and often easier than getting a tooth filled, it is a new procedure for you. Consider having your dentist refer you to a oral surgeon who can give you sedation. You fall asleep, and when you wake up it is all over. No mental trauma.

Already done?: If extractions not done yet, having teeth removed is uncomfortable but very survivable. And the braces are even easier. No one's ever died from getting braces, although your orthodontist's bad jokes may make you wish that you did. Talk your concerns over with your orthodontic specialist for an explanation of what to expect.
