Retention phase: When braces come off, your treatment is not completely done. You will be in a "retention phase" and this means you are wearing a retainer for each arch to keep the straight alignment. Right after braces come off, the teeth are still easy to move back. So it is important to ask your doctor what you need to do (wear retainers) for how long, until when. It is often said, "retainers for a lifetime!".
