Keep him hydrated!: Diarrhea is a common problem in children and symptoms may persist for weeks after infectious diarrhea. The most important thing to do is to provide adequate hydration. It would be worrisome if he has weight loss, blood/mucus/pus in the stool, hard pellets of stool mixed with diarrhea, or significant abdominal pain or distention. It is also important to consider recent travel or ill contacts.
