Please tell me if an incentive spirometer is used to determine lung capacity?

No: Its main purpose is to keep your lung from collapsing usually after a surgical procedure when pain discourages a person to take a deeper breath. It is not meant to measure your lung capacity.

No: this will not be of benefit to determine lung capacity. You need PFT's for that.

35 y/o female, 66 in tall, 125 lb. Had TTP w/ ARDS 10 yrs ago. Since then, can never get over 1K ml on incentive spirometer, have chronic fatigue, out of breath easily. Should I be concerned about possible restrictive lung disease?
Pneumonia 7 weeks ago. Have small inflammation lower lungs, pain in ribs. Using spirometer seems to help. Anything else I can do to help heal?
