If the infarct is: relatively acute you could recover some or most of the lost function over time, especially if it is a small infarct. Talk to your doctor about what you can reasonably expect. Also, they need to look for the cause of the infarct, it is a little unusual in someone your age. The key is to treat the underlying cause, if possible, and to try and prevent future infarcts.
