Imatinib: Acute leukemia is a malignancy of immature WBC that are normally in the bone marrow in low numbers. Imatinib (Gleevec) is an enzyme inhibitor drug that is effective against a protein that is over active in CML and some ALL. It can cause CML to go in remission or increase the effectiveness of ALL therapy. Immature blood cells, in patients on Imatinib, might mean that the disease is resistant.
