Depends on dose: Your body is able to repair damage caused by radiation to a certain degree. Radiation, toxic chemicals, and certain metabolic processes cause oxidative damage to your body's tissues. Tissues that divide more frequently (like intestinal epithelium and hair follicle cells) are more susceptible to oxidative damage, which is why toxic chemical & radiation exposures cause certain effects.
