A member asked:

Help docs, is hydrochlorothiazide ever given to remove excess potassium from the blood?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Low potassium is a side effect. If you need to remove potassium and it's not an emergency, furosemide is more effective and it is the drug of choice.
