Only if painful: Ganglion cysts are fluid filled structures usually associated with a joint. The wrist is most commonly involved but any joint can be affected. If not bothersome, no treatment may be needed. Causes of knee cyst include inflammation, meniscal injuries, bursitis and tendinitis, or ligament injury. Large cysts behind the knee can affect circulation. If bothersome get it checked out.
