You will die: Don't drink it!! It's for external use only! It contains a mixture of methyl (and ethyl) alcohol which is poison in any dose. It will make you blind (before it kills you). Whoever told you to drink it isn't your friend!

Surgical spirit: Best i can find says that 'surgical spirit' is the same as rubbing alcohol. You do not want to drink rubbing alcohol. If there is some other form of 'surgical spirits' i couldn't find it on line.
