Excellent control: Stage 4 breast can be controlled with systemic therapy very well, even for more than 5 years. This is most commonly seen in patients who have stage 4 disease because of spread to the bone only, as opposed to the liver, brain, lungs, etc. Regardless, women are living longer with stage 4 breast cancer because of better systemic treatment. While cancer well controlled with chemo, patients will live.
