Coccydynia: Depends on many factors including the characteristics of the pain, duration, trauma, etc. Differential diagnosis includes things like fracture, bursitis, sacroiliitis, or referred pain, among others. Evaluation by your primary physician, a physiatrist, or an orthopedist would be helpful.

Tailbone pain: Tailbone pain is frequently caused by degenerated lumbar discs. Other causes include hemorrhoids, a fracture of the sacrum (usually occurs after a fall and there is significant osteoporosis) and sacroiliac joint inflammation. An MRI of the lumbar spine and pelvis can help identify the source of pain. A spine specialist can help you treat the pain.
