Would a contusion & sprain of a knee be enough reason to do an arthroscopic surgery if nothing else is helping?

Generally: Contusion and sprain are not typical indications for surgery. There is likely more to this story so speak with your surgeon about what the plan is.

No: A contusion of the knee best seen on an MRI is not an indication for arthroscopy unless the 'bone bruise' is one typically associated w/ ACL 'sprains ' and your knee is 'slipping' or 'giving way' despite quadriceps rehab and a trial of bracing. If this is not the scenario I would suggest getting another opinion from a board certified ORS w/extensive experience w/ knee injuries. Best of Luck!
