DM-Slow healing: High levels of blood glucose caused by diabetes can, over time, affect the nerves (neuropathy) and lead to poor blood circulation, making it hard for blood - needed for skin repair - to reach areas of the body affected by sores or wounds.

Many reasons: There are many reasons for delayed wound healing in diabetics. First, higher glucose levels in the tissues make good growth medium for bacteria, which slow healing. Second, poor circulation to the area slows the migration of white blood cells and other healing cells, slowing down the entire process. There are others, but these are the primary two reasons. Hope this helps!

Blood sugar and flow: Diabetic patients have decreased blood flow and higher than normal blood sugars. Both effect wound healing. A blood sugar greater than 130 decreases the activity of white blood cells and they are involved in wound healing.
