8-10 Hrs: I ask my patients to fast 8-10 hours, minimum. Please take your meds on schedule (except dm meds - ask your dr), and get plenty of water, so your veins are full..

8 to 10 hours: But the HbA1c (hemoglobin A 1 c) test is much more useful and you do not need to fast.
