Yes: Leg cramp could be very painful it could be avoided by eating banana every night and drink some orange juice or eat an orange or any fruit that is rich on potassium if the does not help you can see your doctor he can put him on medicine for that

Check for Blood.: Anytime one complains about leg cramps, especially while lying down, I recommend evaluating for peripheral vascular problems. The cramps could be due to potassium or the need for supplements, but if vascular disease is involved, you need to know and right soon. Start by evaluating the foot pulse pressures and if they are fine, then move on to less serious causes.
