Yes: Could be very serious.. no way to know for sure without examination. Based on your question and concern, pleaswe go to the ER for eval ASAP

See a doctor: I understand how you feel about hospitals, but if you're not improving with treatment & still experience chest pain & shortness of breath, it's probably not a good idea to wait to see your doctor tomorrow. I would advise being seen today in an ER or urgent care. You may need IV medications or fluids acutely, so an ER may be the better choice.
