HFM dis. in infants: Before I further discuss this issue, I would like to advise you to visit a competent pediatrician or pediatric infectious disease physician that can, with certainty, diagnosed your 1 wk old with this illness. Hand-foot-mouth disease is not a very common entity in newborns, it is extremely rare at that age because of mom's immunity.

In a newborn?: I've never heard of hand-foot-mouth in a newborn. There are some newborn rashes that may look similar to the rashes of HFM on the body, and most of these are benign and resolve on their own. Without seeing this rash I can't offer any intelligent advice. You should follow up with your pediatrician to discuss this.

Cases most resolve: Neonatal Hand Foot and Mouth disease has been described in the literature: https://journals.lww.com/md-journal/fulltext/2017/10200/Case_report__Features_of_hand,_foot_and_mouth.72.aspx Usually the viral infection resolves without complications. Complications may include pneumonia and rarely infection of the brain. Please discuss a hospitalization for observation for an infant of this age.
