Is it foot or Leg ?: It may be as simple as Fluid retention from High BP. But can be Clot called DVT- in the Leg (if the leg is also swollen along with the foot) from Sedentary life to recent travel requiring prolonged sitting. Or it may be unrelated to BP. Did she get hurt? Insect bite? does she have arthritis?

Swollen feet: One of the medications commonly used to treat hypertension Amlodipine commonly causes swelling in the the lower extremities especially at a dose of 10 mg. Changing the medication reverses this condition. It is important to be checked for congestive heart failure which also can cause feet swelling. Venous stasis can also cause this condition see your doctor to determine the cause and treatment

Check for blood clot: Hi. Asymmetrical edema always prompts a leg ultrasound (called a duplex Doppler) to look for a deep vein blood clot (thrombosis, DVT). Has she recently been immobilized, had a long flight, had gyn or orthopedic surgery, etc? It's usually a mechanical factor that causes asymmetric edema (i.e., NOT heart failure, kidney disease, high blood pressure in the lungs, liver disease, etc). Get to her doc.
