Multiple reasons: Your head could still hurt from a deep bruise in the scalp and even a bone bruise on the skull itself, a superficial hematoma, or sore spasming muscles in the scalp or even neck. Concussion: You can have a concussion ( traumatic brain injury) from the trauma. A CT scan is used to make sure you didn't have a skull fracture or bleeding in the brain. It would not demonstrate a concussion. This is a clinical diagnosis. Treatment is brain rest! Followup with doctor if not better soon.

Post-traumatic headaches following a closed head injury are not unusual and most fade over several days following the injury. More persistent headaches should be addressed by a neurological evaluation and decisions to intervene with appropriate medications.
