RECURRENT DVT: If you have recurrent DVT and a genetic predisposition to develop DVT then your only option would be indefinite oral anticoagulation. This used to be a major problem in the past because the only oral anticoagulant was coumadin which required frequent blood testing. Now there are many alternatives which do not require frequent blood testing and work efficiently.
