See net references: Long answer: too much for here. Look at net. Quite a few patient-centered references out there. "Sciatica" is an old term. Typically problem is with lumbar nerve root and not truly the sciatic nerve. Typically not "legs" - rather one leg or the other. If both then need clear scan findings or proceed very cautiously. With ulcer and migraine could be stress and not true sciatic.

Lumbar radiculopathy: You are describing a pinched nerve in to low back that is compressing a nerve root in the lumbar spine (sciatica). The pain comes and goes based on position. Physical therapy and/or chiropractic care can help relieve the pain. A selective nerve block or epidural steroid injection can provide relief too. You may also receive a TENS unit or a back brace for home use.

Symptom Vs Cause: Sciatica is the symptom of leg pain caused by a disc herniation or narrowing where the nerve exits the spine. A disc herniation is a outpouching of the disc from its normal place into the spinal canal or on the nerve and can be a source of pain in the back or down the leg. The nerve then goes to the muscle which can then hurt, spasm or feel sore or irritated.
